What is in a name?

What is in a name?

Well, without going to extremes, a few minutes with the dictionary can clear up a few things.  Though this may seem a bit unnecessary, in this age of information we sometimes have misinformation and confusion.

Our company’s name was carefully chosen, so let’s start there.

Abundant means “An overflowing quantity, very plentiful, in full supply, more than enough.”

Energy is “The capacity to activate systems, machines, or to generate heat, light and fuels.”

Finally, Works, is defined as “A place where a specific type of industry is carried on.”

That pretty well sums it up: “A place where machines are activated to supply an overflowing quantity of heat, light and fuels”.

What seemed obvious to us is that we needed to create a machine that would make a direct contribution to solving our energy dilemma.  For making energy, we had to find a readily available source of raw materials that could be turned into useable power.  The ideal fuel must be available in an endless supply because it is definitely time to transition from an ending energy supply to an endless energy supply.

In our search, we took a careful look at nature’s cycles and came up with what we have termed the “A-Loop”.  The A-Loop is simply the sun (the battery charger) storing it’s almost unlimited power in the form of biomass (the battery).  Trees, brush, grass, and other growing organisms are all biomass batteries.  All we needed was a machine that would take this stored energy and efficiently turn it into useable power.  We needed to take the stored energy and release it’s power in a form we could use.

Now, back to the dictionary.  The word “regenerate” is defined as “To reform completely, to gain new life, to renew, to be formed or created again”.  This described exactly what we wanted to do.

Although you have not likely heard of a Bio-Regenerator, it describes what we have created very well.  We are taking bioavailable material created in the A-Loop, and regenerating it into useful power.  It gets even better because our bio-regenerator also takes waste stream material and turns that into power as well.  Defining “wast stream material” doesn’t require a dictionary.  You only need to look around you.  Landfills, garbage, junk mail, yard waste, solid waste and lots more are part of what make up “waste stream material”.

Around here, we joke about the new mountain chain rising up out of the fertile fields of the Midwest.  These “Mountains” do not have the look or smell of the Blue Ridge, Ozark or Rocky mountain chains.  They do, however, sequester a lot of valuable resources that should be recycled.

When we first discovered that we had the opportunity to work on solutions for two major problems, it seemed almost too good to be true. But it is true, our Bio-Regenerator, which we call the Personal Power Plant, is able to do just that.  It takes waste stream materials and turns them into endless energy.

By now, you are probably wondering, “what is ending energy, and what is endless energy?”  The answer requires another definition.  Stored within our globe are fossil fuel and carbon based resources that have developed over time.  These energy resources do not renew themselves, so we have a limited supply.  When first discovered, their quantities seemed vast, but our current appetite for them is so great that their supply is ending.  These energy producing materials have a limited quantity, so by definition, they are an ending energy source.

On the other hand, we do have renewing energy sources, which continue to renew themselves.  So, by definition they are an endless energy source.

After nearly three decades of working with endless energy sources, the team at Abundant Energy Works took a careful look at an industry that had changed very little since Benjamin Franklin created the first cast iron heating stove.  It became clear that something had to be done differently.  Nearly seven years ago, we laid the foundation of the Bio-Regenerator and named it the Personal Power Plant.

This new technology required a complete change in thinking, no small task, considering that a two hundred and fifty year old habit is not easy to break.

The objectives at the start were quite simple and clearly defined.
1) The fuel could not be limited to the current ceiling of only 15% moisture.

2) The non-combustable material maximum of 3% had to be eliminated.

3)  The auger feeder system must be replaced by a more reliable and workable system.

4)  The machine had to load fuel automatically.

5)  The residue from combustion had to be removed automatically.

6)  Remote storage of at least one year supply of fuel must be made practical.

These were the first factors the team established to create a power source that had to be “more than convenient”.

A short time into the project, it became obvious that the Personal Power Plant could do more than heat a home or workplace. We soon added hot water heating to the growing list of items we were testing for proof of concept.  Next came closed loop steam generation and micro CHP. (Combined Heat and Power, making both heat and electricity, which is commonly referred to as “co-generation” and “micro” reefers to a system that generally has less than one megawatt of electrical output)

Here are some other projects we are working on:

-Power for producing the new emerging fuels for the auto industry, such as hydrogen, biodiesel, and electricity.  This can be done locally, in your own garage.  Making it possible for you to create your own fuel for your own transportation.

-Refrigeration and air conditioning as accessories to the Personal Power Plant.

-A “squeeze and flash” system to replace your septic system or city sewer hook up, which then reprocesses it into recyclable materials.  Algae produced by your home’s waste water and supplemented by other household bioavailable materials can make fuel for the Personal Power Plant year round and is a source to produce biodiesel.

-Atmospheric water harvesting, which condenses the water from the air to meet household water needs.

-Greenhouses that use heat from the Personal Power Plant to grow food 365 days a year.

Many more projects are underway using advanced materials and newly created concepts that will advance us in the direction of actually having clean, renewable options for a better quality of living.

The Personal Power Plant Bio-Regenerator has transitioned through 45 prototype phases and is now in the early production stage.  In this phase, heat and hot water are available and it is our goal to use early adopters in the endless energy movement to generate data that will help further develop our product.  Electrical generation is now a reality that we are refining and optimizing.  Small scale biomass particulate reduction, pelletizing, storage and delivery systems are available and will be on demonstration at our living laboratory soon.

We have assembled a team that is well qualified to advance this project to the point that it can have a real impact on our energy future.  This project has been opened up to the community and many have already joined us.  Our name is Abundant Energy Works inc., and we are convinced that, where there is now a lack of resources for power generation, there will soon be an abundant supply of endless energy resources.

Our commitment is to inform and educate people and to create products that take us from an ending energy problem to an endless energy solution. Our goal is to make up our mind, establish a plan and never ever quit pursuing our solution for endless energy.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, together we can be the solution.

Sincerely,

James Geselle,
